Mercedes Soler

Mercedes Soler is an icon of Spanish Language TV and printed News. Her image is synonymous with in-depth reporting and insightful interviewing. Her work is well known throughout the United States, Latin America and Spain. She is a five-time Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist with eighteen years of anchoring and reporting experience, and one of the most influential Latina newscasters, more recognizable among Hispanics in the U.S. than Oprah.

Mercedes has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the Americas, covering difficult investigative stories that denounced human rights abuses as well other human frailties. Her down-to-earth approach to interviewing has allowed her to attract difficult to get at personalities and newsmakers. She has verbally sparred with over a dozen Latin American Presidents. She has also covered U.S. presidential inaugurations, political conventions, papal visits, space shuttle tragedies and the aftermath of 9/11.

Mercedes grew up in Chicago. She has a communications degree from Loyola University where she specialized in radio, TV and film. She has written, directed and produced five independent documentaries, in both English and Spanish.

In addition to a total of 15 Emmy nominations, her body of work has been recognized with the Associated Press award and the Hispanic Media’s Most Influential Journalist’s award.

Mercedes currently resides in Miami, Florida where she's raising her two children with her husband of 19 years.
